Author's Story

The Colour Brown

Tales exist in every corner waiting to be discovered. The most extraordinary stories come from the people they live amongst. As a student of architecture, I perceive structures as vessels for narratives, each one whispering secrets of the past. They are the very embodiment of inspiration, for in their presence, stories take shape, interwoven with every stone and arch. Fiction and historical fiction enrapture my soul, for they possess the ability to transcend the confines of reality and physical barriers yield to boundless creativity. It is a realm where the rules are rewritten, and imagination dances freely.

Sumbul Pardesi

I am an Architect based in the UK, with a deep-rooted passion for cross-disciplinary practices within the architectural field. My journey has been shaped by a master's degree that explored the profound relationship between spaces and stories, where architecture becomes a vessel for narratives. My research in 2019 focused on sustainability and climate change.

With a strong foundation in technical drawings and spatial design, my work experience in the architectural industry has allowed me to bring concepts to life and develop detailed architectural drawings. I have honed my collaborative skills through architectural research and dialogue, always seeking innovative approaches to enhance our built environment.

One of my most prominent experiences in the field included work done at the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan. I had the incredible opportunity to work on a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Makli, collaborating with esteemed organizations such as RIBA and IAP. I engaged in low-cost, no-cost architecture experiments, community projects, and retracing heritage site patterns, all while exploring the potential of bamboo in geodesic dome designs.
